Everything to Know About Our FR-Treated Welding Shirts

Jun 25th 2020

Do you or somebody you know work in hazardous conditions such as high-voltage areas or fire hazards? A diverse array of hazards makes having the right protective gear even more crucial. Many people in this position opt to wear fire-resistant (FR) clothing to protect themselves. The designation of “FR” refers to the ability of a material to self-extinguish upon the removal of an ignition source. However, one should always remember that flame-resistant clothing is NOT fireproof. It simply protects wearers from potential intermittent flames and thermal exposure.

Working around dangerous conditions and performing work as a welder are just some examples that require FR clothing. Comeaux Caps offers FR-Treated Welding Shirts that are high-quality, comfortable, safe, and sold at a great price. Learn more about our FR clothing today.

About

Our FR shirts are preshrunk 100% 7.1 oz cotton for optimal comfort. They are available in a variety of sizes, Small - 5 XL, and colors such as khaki, gray, navy, black, and work blue. Our Comeaux FR flame resistant clothing (FRC) and workwear are made for welders or anyone exposed to hazardous conditions.

How Do FR Fabrics React To An Ignition?

Flame-resistant (FR) fabrics and garments are intended to resist ignition and prevent the spread of flames away from the immediate area of high heat. It is then made to self-extinguish almost immediately upon the removal of the ignition source.

What Classifications Do The Shirts Meet?

Our shirts are UL Certified along with HRC2 and NFPA2112 tested and approved. We have taken many steps to optimize comfort while having the safety features of an FR Treated Shirt. These can be used in welding classes, automotive shops, sheet metal shops, and many more places!

Cleaning Our FR Shirts

Washing your FR treated clothing is critical for extending the longevity of the garments so they continue to keep you safe. We recommend washing these special garments separately in a normal or cotton cycle at any water temperature. Feel free to use any typical home laundry detergent, but do not use fabric softeners. Our FR treated shirts are already preshrunk so you don’t have to worry about your shirt becoming smaller after you wash it.
